Has the band ever experienced something that made you guys say, “No matter what, let’s keep doing this”? Last year our bass player quit, Brad was thinking about just going home, and I asked God, “Is it over?” A couple of nights later this girl came up to me after a concert and said, “Two weeks ago I made up my mind that I would take my life. I planned out how I was gonna do it, but before I did it I decided to give God a chance. I prayed, ‘God, if you’re real, show me something, tell me something.’” The only thing she knew to do was to turn on Christian radio. The song she heard was our “After the World.” The lyrics say, “I’m the one you’ve been looking for; I’m the one you’ve been waiting for. I’ve had my eyes on you ever since you were born, and I’ll love you even after the world is no more.” She heard that, and she knew that God was speaking to her. She gave her life to Him. When I heard that I immediately knew that we weren’t done. Youth Leader What’s your favorite Bible verse? Kevin Proverbs 3:5-6. One of my idols growing up was Whitecross. One day I got their autograph, and noticed that one of the guys wrote that verse on there and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. But that has been the verse for me in every life situation. I need to remind myself: trust in Him; don’t try to figure this out. Acknowledge Him, put Him first, and He’s gonna make sure you go the right way. Micah Philippians 4:6-7. There was a point when I was freaked out about the future and thought I was going nowhere. I was like, “I’m gonna be a total bum by the age of 25 and be living under a bridge.” But that verse really just stuck out to me. I had to just let go and let God. Andrew John 3:30. I usually recite that verse before we play a concert because I’ve noticed that when I’m on stage and I’m doing some sort of ministry, if I take myself out of the picture and let God work, a lot cooler things happen and a lot more people receive the message of Christ. How do you keep anchored? Kevin My wife keeps me anchored. She could care less about Disciple. She loves me. I didn’t marry a girl that I met at a concert, I’ll tell you that right now! We’re about to have our first child, a little girl. I’d say that my new daughter anchors me too. We have also been blessed with some amazing pastors and youth pastors who call randomly, and always at the right time. Andrew My fiance is supportive as far as the music thing goes, because ever since I met her when I was in high school I played guitar. She too likes Disciple, but she doesn’t care. She’s cool because when we talk on the phone she’ll ask how the road is going and then say, “Okay, now here’s what you need to do for the wedding.” I also go to a college and career group back at home, and it’s cool when I get to go there once every six weeks or so because they don’t treat me like a guy from Disciple. They treat me like Andrew. It’s cool to be able to go home and just be a regular guy who chills out and goes to church. Micah - I have a motorcycle, and that keeps me pretty sane. I know that sounds really stupid, but it’s actually pretty important to me. To get on it, go cruise, and be around God’s creation fills me with wonder. I zone out the rest of the world and I’m not worried about how I’m gonna pay my bills that month or how I’m gonna do this or that; I just enjoy how beautiful the land is and it blows my mind. Since I’m from Oregon, I’m kind of a nature freak. I also have a super supportive family at home. I started touring when I was 16 and didn’t see them for nine months in a row, but because they are so loving and supportive they really help to ground me. Israel I’m active in my church; I go to a church of about 150 people. We have a small group, and we try to stay active in the community. Our church is very urban and we like to stay in the thick of it. I also have a fiance.
