“For a while I didn’t think we’d ever be talking about this in youth ministry again. But the resurgence of kids playing guitars, singing into mics, writing songs and forming bands has kind of taken me by surprise. I love the fact that kids are making music again! For several years I didn’t know many teenagers who could play guitar. I wondered if the boomboxes and other personal music listening devices had made guitars obsolete. But all of that has changed. Making music has again become a big deal for teenagers – but for completely different reasons than before. Today’s kids love the visceral feel of vibrating strings and the thump-in-the-chest wallop of a kick drum. Rather than being personal entertainment, making music is now a personal statement.
That’s all good news. And we at interlinc want to encourage even more kids to make music for God. That’s why we put together these Modern Worship Resources and why we initiated some years ago the Rockin’ U Weekend for young Christian musicians.”
