Objective
Your students will leave this study knowing that their relationship with Jesus brings great joy and that they need to let the world know how much fun they have as Christians.

Warm Up
Ask your students:
• What is the most fun thing you have ever done?
• Do you think that being a Christian is fun?
• How do you show others that being a Christian is fun?

Transition
Take a minute to tell your students about the song you are about to play for them from Desperation Band. It is called “Fun” and it describes how Jesus has changed our lives for the better and is making our lives more enjoyable!

The Song
Hand out the Student Guides and have your students listen to “Fun.” As they listen to it have them write down some things that God has done for us that would not only make their lives better, but could make their friends’ lives better.

Transition
Ask for volunteers to read what they wrote down. Ask them to think of friends they have that may need to hear the message that Jesus is a source of great joy.

Bible Study
Ask for a volunteer to read 1 Peter 1:3-9. Discuss:
• In verses 3 and 4, what are the two things that Jesus has given us through His resurrection?
• What is special about the inheritance that we have in Jesus?
• Does our salvation mean that we will have no more trials or pain?
• In verse 8, what do you think Peter meant by “…inexpressible and glorious joy…”?

Wrap Up
Have your students write down why they think this study is important to them.

You can tell them something along the lines of, “Christianity is often portrayed as being boring and full of nothing but things you can’t do. In 1 Peter we find that because of everything Jesus has done for us we are able to have unending joy. In the midst of trials we can find happiness because we know that Jesus is with us and will carry us through.”

You can then follow that up with asking your students how they can show others how Jesus can make their lives fun.
