Theme(s): Revival
Objective
There are a lot of places people look for revival, but there is only one place it is found: through Christ – and it must begin with us first.
Warm Up
A great game to set this up is the classic board game Operation. If you do not own it, or have the ability to get it, make it on a sheet of paper and to make it more difficult you
can blindfold the players. Tell the students that they must complete the operation to revive the patient. Failure means certain spiritual doom!
Transition
Ask your students how they handled the pressure of revival on their shoulders. Have them talk about real life scenarios where they are concerned. Do they know what “revival” is? Do they want or see a need for revival? Discuss how that begins and where revival comes from.
The Video
Play Third Day’s video of “Revival” for your students. Have them write down how the lyrics to this song apply to their lives in the space titled Revive Me!
Transition
Ask the students to share which lyrics they wrote down and how those lyrics apply to them.
Bible Study
Read each passage or verse with your students and have them answer the questions in the space titled It Starts Now!
2 Chronicles 7:14 – This passage has been said to be referring to America – however, this is a call for God’s people to turn from their sinful ways and be revived. If revival is going to start, we must first realize that that revival begins with us!
Matthew 28:18-20 – As many as 94% of Christians will never lead anyone to Christ. This is a big problem, considering that making disciples is the ONE task that Christ left us with. The Great Commission is an urgent necessity, not an option. This step is imperative for revival to take place.
Acts 1:7-8 – In this passage we are reminded that it is not for us to know God’s timing, but that we are to be His witnesses and prepare for His return. In order to bring about revival, we must be prepared to share His kingdom and be His witnesses to all we encounter.
Wrap Up
As you close this lesson, pray for your community and the schools represented in your ministry. Have the students pray for specific people by name. Have them pray for revival to break out in themselves, their student ministry, their church, and their community. Have them write names down to be a witness to during the week.
