Objective
Students will learn some of the thousands of reasons they can believe, trust, and worship God. As a result, they will be challenged to live a life of belief, trust, and worship.
Warm Up
- Option 1: Have the students write ten good positive things/moments to praise God for. Then, have them write ten bad things/moments to praise God for.
- Option 2: Have the students write a letter/note to God praising Him for anything/anyone/any moment they can.
- Option 3: create a Christian rap song that praises Jesus. Form teams of 2-4 students. Have them come up with (from their creative minds) a verse per team. Each verse must contain at least four lines, and they don’t have to rhyme if they don’t want them to. Encourage them to come up with lyrics that glorify God and praise Him for who He is, like David in Psalms—They can even quote some Scripture. One team needs to create the Chorus. (You can find beats on YouTube like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw9lXljhzsY.) When they’re done, one person per team stands up with the mic while the beat plays and raps their team’s lyrics.
Transition
Option 1:
- Which was the more difficult list to put together – ten good or ten bad? Why?
- Why should God get all the glory, no matter what?
- Say: “There is more to praise God for than there is not to. Let’s check out this video by KB called ‘10K’, and then we will dive into some Scripture.”
Option 2:
- What are some of the things you mentioned to God in the note/letter? (If it was a private thing for them to do, they don’t have to share.)
- How many reasons did you come up with to praise Jesus in your note/letter?
- Do you think it’s important for us to tell God how thankful we are and praise Him whenever we can? Why?
Option Three:
- What an awesome (hopefully, it was awesome) song you guys came up with! Do you want to see if someone else can do better? Check this out!
Hand out the Student Guides. Explain that KB uses the phrase “10,000 reasons to believe in God,” and then he begins to list some of them. Have them write down lyrics that stand out to them the most.
Transition
Awesome video, right?! Did you hear anything that you weren’t sure what KB was talking about? What were some things you heard that reminded you of Scripture?
Bible Study
KB doesn’t take the time to list 10,000 reasons to believe in God, but let’s look at some! The following is a list of some of the scripture passages that this song is based on. What are some of the reasons in the following passages for believing in, trusting in, and worshipping God?
Psalm 103:1-5 – Point out the benefits listed in vs.3-5: God…
…forgives all my sins
…heals all my diseases
…redeems me from death and hell
…crowns me with love and compassion
…fills my life with good things
Hebrews 13:5-8 – Point out the following: God…
…never leaves or forsakes us
…is our helper, so we don’t have to fear
…never changes, and is therefore always faithful to us
Numbers 23:19-20 – Point out the following: God…
…doesn’t lie
…doesn’t change His mind
…doesn’t fail to act
…doesn’t fail to fulfill His promises
Romans 5:1-2 – Point out the following: God…
…gives us peace with Him through faith in Jesus
…gives us access to Him by His grace
Wrap Up
Why do we need to know many of the reasons we can believe, trust, and worship God? When we remind ourselves of the thousands of reasons we can believe, trust, and worship God, we remember how awesome and faithful He is to us – how He is always providing for us and protecting us!
How should the answer to the previous question affect your life? We should be motivated to be more thankful to God and to live a life that honors Him!
