Theme(s): Revival Church, The Prayer: Power of
Objective
To educate students about revival and equip them to prepare for it through prayer and being in the Word.
Warm Up
“Azusa” by Bay Area Christian Hip-Hop artist, Miles Minnick, refers to a historical revival meeting that continued from 1906 to 1915 called the Azusa Street Revival. Led by William Seymour, an African American preacher, people in Los Angeles, California experienced powerful times of musical worship, prayer, miracles, and speaking in tongues. Differences didn’t matter, whether it was race, gender, economic status, age, etc. All were present and invited to participate. It was an incredible, unifying moment in America’s history!
Transition
If we look at the root of the word “Revive” - “re” means “again” and the root verb “vivere” means “to live.” Christ’s followers start to really live again like God intended for us to live when it is revived. The Church (all Christians in all kinds of churches) gets right with God. It gets cleaned up. Skeletons come out of the closet, enemies become friends, sins are brought to light and people are healed! This healing can be spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, or relational.
