Song: Attack On Titan Freestyle

Writer: James O'Brien | Anchor Point Bible Church | Muskegon, Michigan

Objective
Students will learn to anticipate Jesus’ return and prioritize sharing the Gospel.

Warm Up
Countdown Reflection – Distribute two slips of paper and pens or pencils to each student. Ask the students:

  • What would you do if you knew you only had one week left to live?
  • Once they have had a few minutes to reflect, instruct them to write down their thoughts and responses on one of the slips of paper. They can write short statements or bullet points summarizing their ideas.
  • Collect the slips of paper from the students and mix them up. Randomly distribute the slips of paper among the students, making sure that each student receives a slip with someone else’s reflection. Instruct the students to take turns reading aloud the reflection they received, without revealing the author.
  • Repeat the exercise using the second piece of paper. This time ask:
  • What would you do if you knew Jesus was returning in one week?

Encourage them to consider how they would spend their time, who they would want to share the Gospel with, and any changes they would make in their lives.

  • In what ways are the two questions similar? How do they differ?
  • How did it feel to hear someone else’s perspective on prioritizing the Gospel?
  • Did any of the reflections surprise you or provide a new insight?
  • How can we apply the urgency of Jesus’ return to our lives right now?

Transition
From our discussions and reflections, I sincerely hope that the brevity of life and the significance of prioritizing the Gospel have resonated with each of us.

Now, we’re going to watch a music video that adds a unique perspective to these themes. As you listen to the lyrics, write down anything that jumps out to you in the Student Guide.

The Video
Play the “Attack On Titan Freestyle” music video by Brinson.

Transition

  • What specific lyrics or themes stood out to you the most?
  • Brinson emphasized the urgency of spreading the message of Christ.
  • How does this urgency impact your own perspective on evangelism?
  • How can we practically apply this urgency in our lives as we strive to prioritize sharing the Gospel?

Bible Study
Read Matthew 24:36-44

  • How does Jesus’ teaching challenge us to be vigilant and prepared for His return?
  • What practical steps can we take in our daily lives to prioritize our relationship with Him and live in readiness for His coming?
  • What are some distractions or temptations in our lives that can hinder our readiness?
  • How can we actively guard against these distractions and stay focused on our relationship with Christ and the mission of sharing the Gospel?

Read 2 Peter 3:8-13

  • How does understanding that God’s concept of time differs from ours affect our urgency in sharing the Gospel and living for Christ?
  • According to verse 9, why is God delaying Jesus’ return? How should this knowledge shape our attitude and approach to evangelism?
  • How should our anticipation of Jesus’ return impact the way we prioritize and invest our time, talents, and resources in sharing the Gospel?

Wrap Up
Jesus wants us to be bold in sharing the Gospel, reflecting His character with humility and love. We need to carry the urgency of evangelism in our daily life, knowing our efforts have eternal significance, and allowing our lives be a powerful testimony of God’s grace.

Your task for this week: Identify someone in your life who needs to hear the Gospel. Build a genuine relationship with them and initiate a conversation about faith. Pray for opportunities to share the hope of Jesus. Journal your experiences and share them at our next gathering. Trust the Holy Spirit and step out in faith. Let’s make a lasting impact together!
