Discussion
Though we are all “wired” a little differently in the magnificent creation of God, our humanity and the ever-present sin in this world combine to cause everyone, at some level, to experience insecurity. We may feel very confident and strong in some areas, but the enemy is very capable of not only attacking our secure areas but capitalizing on our insecurities.

The writer of “Jumpsuit” describes feeling overwhelmed by circumstances and the temptation to give in to destructive choices. The video, which is full of symbolism (check out all the websites addressing it), also portrays the burden of harmful forces. He says, “I can’t believe how much I hate, pressures of a new place roll my way” and “I crumble underneath the weight, pressures of a new place roll my way.” He goes on to say, “Spirits in my room, friend or foe?” In this context, he calls for the “jumpsuit” to cover him.

We are continually faced with a spiritual battle. Life circumstances, the destructive choices of others, and our own choices will lead us to follow the wrong leaders on paths where true life is traded for what satisfies at the moment.

God calls us to build a strong foundation ready to withstand whatever comes our way.

Jesus speaks about a solid foundation in Matthew 7:24-27, “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise, and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come, and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Christ has given us a “jumpsuit” – a covering. His death and resurrection conquered sin once and for all. As we listen to His teachings and obey His words, we are building our lives on a strong foundation ready for the heavy rains, floodwaters, and winds. He will cover us even when the enemy is trying to “grab my throat.”

Conclusion
How would you rate your “foundation” on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being sand and 10 being solid rock? What is one action step you could take, now, to be sure your foundation is stronger?
